RE-DIGGING OLD WELLS: RE-DISCOVERING WESLEY'S SERMONS | LED BY CHARLES WEAVER
Isaac had to re-dig the wells that his father Abraham had dug--the wells that had nourished his flocks and been the source of his wealth. The Philistines had filled them in. (Genesis 26:17-25). In the same way, modern Methodists need to re-dig the spiritual wells that our father, John Wesley, dug in the 1700's--the gospel wells that nourished the Methodist flock during our first 150 years and were the source of our dynamic faithfulness. Over the last century or so, those wells have been the victim of institutional neglect, liberal theology, and secular influence. Digging back into Wesley's sermons (and building on George's recent course), we'll study Methodism's distinctive doctrine of salvation. This class will cover the first two sermons of "John Wesley's Standard Sermons: Vol. I" Books are not required but are available for purchase in the front office for $13.
